Global Warming: Beyond the Tipping Point
The world's most outspoken climatologist argues that today's carbon dioxide levels are already dangerously too high. What can we do if he is right?
From Sciam:
"The basic proposition behind the science of climate change is so firmly rooted in the laws of physics that no reasonable person can dispute it. All other things being equal, adding carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere—by, for example, burning millions of tons of oil, coal and natural gas—will make it warm up. That, as the Nobel Prize–winning chemist Svante Arrhenius first explained in 1896, is because CO2 is relatively transparent to visible light from the sun, which heats the planet during the day. But it is relatively opaque to infrared, which the earth tries to reradiate back into space at night. If the planet were a featureless, monochromatic billiard ball without mountains, oceans, vegetation and polar ice caps, a steadily rising concentration of CO2 would mean a steadily warming earth. gReuse is a combination of being Green and Reusing old items that would otherwise get tossed in the trash, going to a landfill and in turn hurting us all. Instead of tossing something in the trash or dumpster why not see if anyone else wants has a good use for it? That's the basic gReuse concept!
Want to save the planet? Then this idea should be a no-brain er! keeping trash out of landfills and slowing the cycle of buying new and throwing away. That's gReuse!
Maybe you are the type of person who cant bring yourself to throw things away because you know in the future you will have a use for them..... But find yourself accumulating tons and tons of stuff you do not need? Now you cant bring yourself to throw all you have saved away... Why not give it to someone who can use it now? That's gReuse!
Ok so even if you could care less about saving the planet, or getting rid of your junk. I can guarantee one thing EVERYONE LOVES FREE STUFF!!! Especially if its something you need! Lets get everyone involved in keeping our planet Green (whether they know it or not).
Thank you for using this site!
