Over the last two weeks, I've been contacting, chatting and meeting with (for organic coffee) many different players making up the ever-growing EcoWeb. After just getting started, I feel comfortable sharing a few conlcusions I've drawn regarding the nature of ecopreneurs after speaking with a vast number of them across the country.
1. Available - The process of contacting folks involved with geen ventures, organizations, etc, whether non-profit or for profit seems so "normal", easy and enjoyable. They simply list their emails as forrest [at] ecoflip [dot] org and everything works out real smoothe from there. I get the sense that the type of people passionate about saving the planet in one way or another, make themselves available for anyone who wants to listen, learn and chip in accordingly.
2. Dependable - No flakiness here. Unlike other sectors in the business world, the green niche (is currently) bursting with people who make commitments and keep them.
3. Honest - Honestly, I've been impressed with the overall level of open honesty I've experienced from other ecogeeks. They freely express their opinions without the need to over-glamorize a current situation or circumstance. We all know that honesty is the best policy, and if these guys keep it up, they'll be chartering a long and successful journey.
I can get used to this bunch...
